This is a replica of the chainsaw seen being built in the workshed by Ash & Annie, it also closely matches the lightweight stunt chainsaw used in parts of the scene in which Ash is attacked by Linda's headless corpse (albeit minus the wristband). Although the workshed sequence has a brief shot of a 14" guide bar being fitted, I've decided to use a 20" bar instead, as per the stunt chainsaw. You can select your preferred length of guide bar upon placing an order. You can click to enlarge the pictures below.
This chainsaw is a non-working prop and contains no moving parts. Inside it has a handle running from the left to right sides, and can be held either left or right handed.
Each chainsaw is manufactured from scratch. The body, black handle, muffler & lids are all reproduced in an impact resistant heavy duty polyurethane plastic resin using moulds taken from modified parts of an original Homelite XL.
Where possible the metalwork is aluminium to reduce the weight. A real chainsaw guide bar, chain and sprocket are used to complete the exterior shell.
Virtually all of this chainsaw has been bolted & screwed together as opposed to being glued. This makes it much stronger and allows for the saw to be completely dismantled. It's made of around 87 separate parts, from the guide bar & chain down to each nut & bolt.
The pull-start is fixed and doesn't retract.
The visible portion of the engine block has also been moulded, so from the exterior it looks identical to an original 'Homelite XL' chainsaw. Its cast in a strong resin, which easily allows it to take the weight of the chain & guide bar.

As you can see from the above photo, The metal clamp used as the wristband has an insert made of plastic to protect your hand & wrist from the clamps metal edges.
The handle on the inside of the saw is located 5" in from the wristband, and is about level with the toggle switch you can see on the lid.
Once assembled the main body is 'dirtied down' using various methods giving it a grubby oily look with areas of oily sawdust, which is permanent and won't rub off, and all the wood is stained & varnished. Some customers prefer far less dirt & grime as it hides some of the chainsaw's fine details, so it's up to you. You may also have this saw with the the dusty weathered blood finish as per the 'Medieval Chainsaw', or the 'clotted dried blood finish' as per the 'Cabin Chainsaw.'
The guide bar is stripped of paint, then both the guide bar & chain are chemically treated to give them an aged look.
Chainsaws can be supplied with either a normal (top), or a ground chain (bottom). For that I grind the teeth flat.

The hand-hole has been made as large as is possible while keeping to the original design, and is not adjustable. If you have larger hands it may be quite tight to get your hand through. The interior diameter of the hole at the back of the chainsaw is 85mm x 55mm or 3-3/8" x 2-1/4".
The best way to check this before buying is to see if your hand will squeeze through a standard size roll of Sellotape, the hole in the middle of the tape is normally 76mm or 3" (this can be made a lot easier if you touch your thumb & little finger together). If you can, the actual interior diameter of the wristband is 85mm or 3-3/8" which is bigger.
The size of the hole is dictated by the size of the original chainsaw body itself. The 'Medieval Chainsaw' & 'Cabin Chainsaw' both have larger hand-holes due to the raised lid which gives more space, so if you intend on buying one to wear it, please be sure before placing an order. I have average hands and can squeeze my hand in, and once it's through the hole, it's perfectly comfortable.
The overall length with a 20" guide bar is 765mm or 30", and the total weight is just 3.2kg or 7lb.
