Out of all the movies Army Of Darkness had the biggest budget of the lot and that was due to the fact that it had more control by the studios than the previous two films. This resulted in many changes for the movie from what was originally intended. First of all the movie wasn't titled Evil Dead 3 because the studio wanted it to be able to stand alone and so it was retitled Army Of Darkness (Raimi's original title was The Medieval Dead).
The script this time around was handled by Sam and his brother Ivan Raimi. Raimi original tried to get Scott Speigel back on board after writing the Evil Dead 2 script but Scott was caught up in other work at the time. Finally Raimi was able to bring his medieval vision he wanted for Evil Dead 2 together.
KNB Efx returned to do the make up and effects for the movie but this time everything was on a much larger scale.
The director's cut of Army Of Darkness contains fifteen minutes additional footage as well as the original ending. The main deleted scenes are:
Ash and Shiela: A love scene with Ash and Shiela which was also in the original English and other foreign releases of the film.

Little Ash's: This scene is much longer than the original release with Ash killing off all the little versions of himself in different manners. Remeber all those cuts of where the hell did Ash get black soot on his face? It's all shown here baby.

The battle: The end battle is much longer than in the original release with more skeletons been blown to pieces and more Bad Ash. Some scenes take place at different points during the battle such as Henry the Red's arrival and the battle takes place in two attacks. There's more dialogue between Ash and Arthur and even after Bad Ash is turned into a skeleton he begins to breath flames out as Ash.

Original ending: Any evil dead freak knows or has seen the original ending to the film. Here Ash accidently takes one too many drops of the potion and results in his sleeping one hundred years into the future. After he awakens he is greated with a destroyed English landscape.

Original opening: The original opening is quite different from the one that made it onto the big screen with a close up on Ash's eyes as he explains the story of the previous films.

Ash vs Arthur: At the start of the film Ash originally confronted Arthur by attacking him with his own sword before Arthur gets the advantage and tells his men to bring Ash to the pit.

Windmill scene: The original windmill scene goes on for ages and is incredibly boring (in my opinion anyway). It has Ash hearing loads of sounds around the windmill before he heads out into the woods and walk around for a loooooong time before bumping into his horse (so that's how he got his horse back!). This scene actually leads quite well onto Ash seeing his evil self standing in the door of the windmill where he races in and smashes into the mirror.

Ash recruiting Henry the Red: Ever wonder when they asked Henry the Red to help them fight the army of the dead? Well here it shows Ash meeting up with Henry and asking him to join forces with Arthur for the battle against the deadites.
