I'm fairly certain that the movie wasn't meant to take place in Arthurian Britain. Apart from a lord named Arthur, and a 'wise man' who had some magical abilities, I can't see any real parallels with Arthurian legends. There's no mention of Camelot, Excalibur, or the Grail. Launcelot, Galahad, and the other Knights of the Round table are nowhere to be found. Arthur's antagonist is named Henry, not Mordred. Where is Gwenivere? And so on.
I got the distinct impression that Ash found himself in a fiefdom held by a petty ruler who happened to be named Arthur. Taken that way, it's actually not badly done. The armor is more appropriate to the 1400s or 1500s than it is to 1300AD, but that's not too bad. And also, if there was a historical Arthur, he actually existed more like 800 years earlier (450-550AD), not 300-500 years earlier.
