Summary: Left hand draw, or is it ?
Details: Right after Ash arrives in the past, the shotgun in its "back holster" is positioned for a right-hand draw, which wouldn't work very well for a man with a chainsaw in place of a right hand ! After he intimidates the villagers at the pit, he puts it away with his left hand, and you can see how it SHOULD go. When he returns with the Necronomicon, it's back to right-hand draw, again.
