Games Connection! |
Throughout the past few years the gaming culture has gone beyond what it was originally intended for. Suddenly the kids aren't the only gameplayers companies are concerned about, mature gamers are responsible for a sizeable portion of the market aswell. The number one influence on games has been the movies and the Evil Dead trilogy is no exception. |
In the eighties a version of the Evil Dead existed for the Commodore 64 gaming system and there will be the long awaited Hail to the King RPG for the PlayStation and PC CD-ROM arriving sometime next year - thank God it wasn't called Evil Dead 2000. With its witty one-liners and darkly comic charcter set-pieces Raimi's trilogy has in its own way shaped the wise cracking superhero of the shoot-em up games industry. |
Army Of Darkness Doom
There is
in existance a 'patch' for the original PC CD-ROM version of 'Doom' which adds
dialogue and sound effects from AOD to the game.
You can find the patch at the following site: The Shrine of Bruce Campbell, which also features other marvellous things about the great man himself. You will also find a downloadable version of Warcraft II: Army of Darkness.
Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem was a game that took the first person shoot em up genre, as popularised by the Doom games, and added one-liners and dry wit. Most of this dry wit came from Army of Darkness and the cool drawl of Bruce Campbell. "Hail to the King, baby!" and "Come get some!" soon became the signature note of the Nukem series. Here's what Campbell had to say about the shamless thiefs that plagerised the movie, "...SOME CHEEZEBALL SHEMP RIPPIN' OFF THE MIGHTY WORDS OF MR. RAIMI...". Ouch! |
Bruce In Games
Bruce
Campbell has also lent his vocal talents to other PlayStation and PC games,
these are;
Tachyon: The Fringe | Broken Helix | Pitfall 3D: Beyond the Jungle |
PC Only | Playstation | Playstation |
