Army of Darkness

Board Game by Leading Edge

Army of Darkness is one of my most favorite movies of all time. I didn't know that they made a board game for it until after the board game was out of print. I walked into a small family game store, when Chad and I went on a Portland trip to buy games, and there it was sitting on the shelf with dust on it. At first I thought it was a role playing game and was completely bummed, but after taking a good look at the box I realized that it was indeed a board game. There were no pictures on the back of the game so I had know idea what the game would be like. All I could think of at the time was that I wouldn't leave the store without the game. So I bought the game for $30 (what a deal) and headed home. I called my friend Tim up and exclaimed, "You will never guess what I bought in Portland!" His reply was, "The.. Army of Darkness game." I was baffled, for Tim had no idea that there was an Army of Darkness board game in existence. This was when we discovered Tim's psychic ability. Whenever we play "Formula De" Tim can call the numbers rolled with a 98% accuracy.

The Army of Darkness board game is actually a good game. Leading Edge supposedly has a bad reputation for their games. They buy rights to hit movies that would make cool games like "Terminator 2", "Aliens", "Dracula", "Lawnmower Man", and "Army of Darkness" and then make a game out of it. The general impression that people have is that Leading Edge Games suck. (or at least that was my brother's impression) I have EXTREME respect for the company based on my first game I've played from them the Army of Darkness board game.
