1 - French Kiss After Linda's head falls into Ash's lap there's a brief sequence where her tongue flies out of her mouth into his.
COMMENTS: An amazing scene that should've been kept in the final cut. I'm not sure why they cut it. Maybe the effect didn't come across that well but it looks pretty impressive here. Still, quite funny to see as a deleted scene.
In the original version of the film, during the backflash to Professor Knowby reading from the Necronomicon, we see Henrietta in a rocking chair, rocking in and out of shadow.
At one point she dips into shadow, then comes out as a deadite. COMMENTS: This is a neat little effect that I could really see Raimi pulling off well in the final cut had he decided to use it. I could see Henrietta rocking back into shadow and then a quick start and stop forward followed by a hard sound cord as she rocks back into frame as a deadite. It's a shame he didn't use it.
After Ash chops Ed with ax we see a quick glance of the piece of his head on the floor, followed by a sceen where Ash tells Jake to get a chainsaw because they need to cut him up.
This is followed by a shot of Ash chopping up the body with some of the pieces lying around. COMMENTS: A neat little scene that showcases some of the special-effects we didn't see in the film. Probably cut for pacing. FINAL WORD: This Image laserdisc is one of their best ones yet. It's a shame that there are some many factual errors on the jacket (the film is not rated R, nor was it made in 1976). The disc has great audio commentary, an information behind-the-"screams" featurette, the theatrical trailer, and it's been painted red (blood red) to commemorate its limited pressing. I hope they do as good a job with the THX DVD set of all three films expected to be released in Summer 2000. Groovy.
