FACTS

  • The budget for Evil Dead 2 was $3,000,000.

  • The film was originally titled 'Evil Dead 2: Who's Laughing Now?'

  • Evil Dead 2 doesn't take off exactly where the first film left off. The first five or ten minutes are a quick run down of the first film up until Ash is knocked up through the trees by the wind type demon. From here Ash must survive a second night in the cabin. The reason for this is that Raimi couldn't get the rights to use footage from the first movie so he had to redo the flashback of the last movie. This time around all the actors from the first film had gone off to do other things so they ignored all that and just did Ash and Linda going up to the cabin.
These are Bruce Campbells exact words on the matter:
'Well...it's like this: When it came time to do ED2 (7 years later), we couldn't get the rights to the original footage from ED1 (to do re-cap stuff), and the original actors had all gone off to do other things. So, in our infinite wisdom, we decided to "lie" about how Ash got to the cabin and who he was with (i.e. just Linda). This, indeed, confused a lot of people and caused them to think Ash was dumb enough to return to the cabin with another girlfriend (as well as fuel the useless debate that ED2 was really a "remake" and not a "sequel" -- pardon me while I fall aslezzzzzzzz). Granted, Ash IS dumb enough to return to the cabin, but that was not our original intent.'

  • The cabin used in Evil Dead 2 isn't the same one used in the first film. The cabin used in Evil Dead 2 can also be seen in the movie The Color Purple.

  • In Evil Dead 2 Fred Krugers glove can be seen on the wall in the shed. Also in 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' at one point Nancy is watching the first Evil Dead movie on TV.

  • When Ash is possessed for the second time after he attacks Annie and she is unconsious he sees the necklace he gave Linda and its in the shape of a skull on the floor.

    BLOOPERS

  • When the wind demon rushes through the cabin towards Ash it smashes down the front door. Later when it chases Ash through the cabin it knocks down just about every other door yet none of them are missing later on.

  • Near the start when Ash is attacked by the wind demon he is thrown far away from the cabin when the Evil attacks and possesses him in the beginning but when Ash wakes up hes right next to the cabin.

  • When Ash is chased through the cabin by the wind demon after been thrown from his car notice at the top of the screen there's no roof on the cabin when they're inside.

  • It's a bit of an obvious one but god knows how many time Ash is sprayed in the face with blood or green or black goo and in the next sceen he's almost spotless. In the shed when he knocks the chainsaw back into Linda's body, when he shoots the wall in the cabin and blood sprays out at him plus loads more times.

  • When Ash is down in the cellar collecting the pages of the book at one point he holds up the pages beside him with his right hand. His right hand is the one he sawed off and replaced with the chainsaw.

  • As Ash climbs out of the cellar to face Henriette watch when she turns and hisses at him the actor inside's sweat can be seen pouring out through the ear.

  • Towards the end of the film when Ash is getting sucked into the vortex you can see the rope he's attached to while he's flying through the woods.
  • Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn is ©1987 Renaissance Pictures.
