Betsy Baker Interview Page 1 : 2

I think that it's a lie, but did Bruce really have some sort of bad breath problem when you kissed him?

Where do these rumors come from??!?!?!?!? They just have to stop next thing you know, they’ll be saying bruce isn’t going to be cast in “EVIL DEAD 4” because his halitosis has gotten way out of control, and no actress will work with him... gheeeez!.. ......bruce did NOT have bad breath... and believe me, i should know, because confidentially, we practiced that kiss off-camera over and over until we thought we had it right. I can only assume you must be referring to the rumor about his taste for fine jewelry.

Betsy, we have heard that your experience in making The Evil Dead was less than favorable. Do you still look back on the experience with bad feelings?

Well, that is a nice way of putting it.... less than favorable.......hmmmmm.... looking back........nah. these days, what with working and touring together with ellen and theresa, we’re just laughing so hard and having so much fun with the fans, how can anyone look back and recall all those wretched shooting nights, those awful days, the meals without edible food, the freezing cold, the karo syrup, the incessant and non-stop whacking of those beams across my head time and time again.......what was your question again??

Do you take pride in the fact that you were involved in something that thousands of people all around the world have thought to be one of the best and most innovative horror movies of all time?

Yes it's been an interesting experience to say the least.

Have you seen all of Tom Sullivan's illustrated pages from the Book of the Dead? Which page is your favorite and why?

Yes, and well, they really bug me because i know somewhere in those drawings there are words and coded pictures that i can't figure out, you know, like in the old HIGHLIGHTS Magazine when you went looking for hidden pictures while your mom was seeing the doctor, and you could usually find all of them but 1 or 2. you’re probably too young to know what i’m talking about. trust me its a mild form of torture.

What are your favourite kinds of movies?

My favorite kind of movies.... are the old classic musicals, comedies, and believe it or not, the older disney movies....mary poppins, true grit, old yellar, the trouble with angels..........then there’s that old mystery-murder classic, the last of sheila.

A question we just gotta know. You were in the TV movie "Word of Honor" starring Karl Malden….I just gotta know id his nose as big in real life as it appears on film?

“Word of Honor“, despite it’s being a made-for-tv movie, was a great movie for its’ time, based on true events---- with rue mclanahan and john malcovich, and of course, karl malden. and no, his nose is not nearly as big as his heart is.

Have you been having fun at the conventions?

We have been having a blast!! it is so fantastic to see fans, young and old, and to have them bring their own personal collections for us to autograph or see----chainsaws, european posters, bricks from the cabin fireplace, necklaces that are similar to the gem that ash handed me----- we really do have a great time! everybody should come !!

Do you think it’s sad to hear middle age men talk about "this cool series of movies where a guy cuts his hand off and put a chainsaw in it’s place" when films like Citizen Kain sit on video store shelves?

Well, i must say, "Citizen Kane' is one of my favorites as well we analyzed it for an entire semester while i was in college, but c'mon does anyone really think back and obsess about a red sled like he did? this guy with this chainsaw thing--- perhaps he can find a real job at a deli, cutting up meat and cheese for a hand-sandwich on rye?....never mind.
