Interview - Tommy Tallarico |
-What was the biggest game that you have worked on? As far as units sold it would be a close call between Earthworm Jim, Tony Hawk Skateboarding and Disney's Aladdin. I've also done games in the Madden, Time Crisis, Test Drive, Mortal Kombat, Blitz, Pac-Man, and Unreal series that have been pretty big. Spider-Man and Tomorrow Never Dies (Bond) were also huge sellers. -Thanks Tommy! There is one last thing I would love to share with your readers. When I wrote the lyrics to Evil Dead I did it all in Latin. In all of the interviews I've done, no one has ever asked me what the translation is. I figured this would be a great opportunity to share with everyone exactly what was said in a few of the songs. First let me say that the word "EVIL" in latin is translated to Pravus, "Dead" is translated to Mortus so right away I have a great rhyming title... Pravus Mortus. Throughout mostly every song you'll hear Pravus Mortus going on in the background. I also took a lot of the incantations from the movies and mixed them in there (klatu verata nicto). Finally, I went online and got a translation of the real "Book of the Dead" (yes, there is one that actually exists) and used a few passages and words from that along with Latin translations of Revelations from the Bible. Here are the words (and translations) to the main theme and Finale from the game. INTRO VERSE ---------------------- oremus non Dominus (let us pray not to Lord) oremus daemon (let us pray to a demon) oremus non de Deus (let us pray not of God) oremus Candari (let us pray to the Candari) BRIDGE ------------ Morturom Demonto (The book of the Dead) daemon Candari (the demon is Candari) pravus et mortus Candari (Evil and Dead Candari) iratus magnus Candari (angry and big Candari) FINAL CHORUS ------------------------ cavi cautum Dominus (beware Lord) ave regis daemon (Hail to the King of demons) emergo ad Candari (rise up from the Candari) exclamo Candari (praise/shout Candari) pravus vobis cum (may evil be with you) No I'm not a devil worshipper!! However it was fun and entertaining doing all of the research for the project. There's a lot of interesting things you can find on the internet! I remember the expressions on the choirs face when we first handed them the lyrics... there was this weird deadening silence throughout the room. We had to explain to them that it was only for "make-believe". Thanks once again Tommy *This peice of music can found on this site, in the downloads section of Hail to the King |
