Bad Influence was a UK CITV TV show that ran for 57 episodes over 4 series', from 1992 to 1996, dedicated to video games. Many of the episodes are still available online, and on YouTube. This set pulls everything together in to one presentation, with extras. This Blu-Ray set is an update, to the original 12-disc DVD set produced by James from
Bad-Influence.co.uk way back in 2006. James traded that with me around 2010, and I have his permission to re-author and include his footage here. I also asked after his source VHS tapes, but they were unfortunately lost to mould years back.
While James' series 2-4 transfers were excellent, series 1 is an overall step down, and quite rough in places. Ideally I wanted to replace that with my own transfers if original source tapes are ever made available to me. Back in November 2024, I bought eight VHS tapes and two BetaMax tapes on Facebook. Seven of the VHS tapes ran at 240mins in Long-Play (7-8hrs each), with the eighth at 300min in LP (10hrs), totalling around 60 hours of footage. Each tape had one episode of
Bad Influence, along with an assortment of other shows;
One Foot In The Grave,
A Touch Of Frost,
Quantum Leap,
Allo Allo,
Spitting Image,
The Detectives, plus a few films;
Splash,
Abyss,
Karate Kid 2/3, etc... I set each tape recording, then fast-forwarded through stopping to catch and ad breaks or promos which might be useful, and the episodes themselves. That gave me around 7hrs of usable material. That's eight
Bad Influence episodes from Series 1 (of the 15 broadcast), and one from S4, plus there were five
Gamesmaster S2 episodes, and a
Head To Head episode on computer games, an episode of
Cyber Zone presented by Andi Peters played during BBC2's
DEFII, a few
SNES,
MegaDrive &
Game Gear adverts, plus a couple of other little bits & pieces. It's all Long-Play, but the quality is quite decent. Those extra bits & pieces are included on Disc 1 of my
Gamesmaster S1-7 Blu-Ray Set .

Of Series 1, episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, & 9 are James' original rougher transfers. Episodes 7, 8, 10, 11, & 12 are new transfers complete from the source tapes. Episodes 3 & 13 were incomplete from my source tapes, so were edited together with James' footage to give complete episodes. Lastly the one S4 episode; James' transfer is better than my new transfer (which was also incomplete), so that has been left off.
To add to the nostalgia factor, each episode preceded with a two toys/games related 80s/90s TV adverts, plus a handful of ITV & CITV junctions, continuity announcements, and other bits & pieces. I assembled 125 adverts to use from various sources, and will hopefully be able to expand this with any future upgrades.
The set is supplied in a blue 4-way Blu-Ray case, with a laser-printed cover, and printed disc artwork. The inside cover has a detailed listing of the contents of each episode; courtesy of James from

This set need not be the final version. If anyone out there has either more complete, or better quality source material, I would be happy to re-visit the project. All the artwork & menus are all saved so I can easily re-visit any of the discs in the project if I get new source footage, and people can get upgraded discs in the future.
