THREE!!!! Iunno... I just felt left out. How about a movie we can pick apart... Children of the Living Dead. Tom Savini was the best part and all of his dialogue was poorly ADRed over, there was even a close-up of his face as he looked down the scope on his gun and said surprise... and his mouth didn't move. Considering he was in about five minutes of the movie and a minute or so of that was a flashback of the other four minutes... it was pretty bad. Anyone see this flick?

(Just now getting into the thread when I realised people are dissin my boy Eli)

While Eli's movies aren't Oscar winners (which considering that the winners aren't who deserve the awards anyways...), Eli makes very entertaining movies. Like I have said before, aren't movies supposed to be about entertainment? Hostel 1 & 2 are both watchable over and over again, great fun. Cabin Fever is just a fun movie to laugh at.  You have to remember that you can't really take his movies seriously.

All I am saying is, I will defend Eli's movies forever.

Hey, the new Dawn of the Dead only gets a bad rep due to the fact that it's a remake. While the original Dawn is a masterpiece, the remake was really good too. Land of the Dead made up for the terrible Day of the Dead (don't give me a lecture on why it was bad, i've heard it way too many times).

I agree that it's a form of entertainment, but I find there's a big difference between movies and films. Movies are mindless, do not try to bend the rules and revolutionize or reinvent the medium, they don't try and bring about a unique style that might influence future filmmakers... they're cut and paste, put the camera down and lets see where we get to experiences.

Films on the other hand are crafted using every possible area of art, from architecture in set designs, cinematography, lighting, art direction, costume design, acting, scoring, etc. Everything you see is thought out, everything you hear is planned... From knowing just how to set your depth of field to acheive the optimal focus on what your audience should see, using the right kind of lighting to help emphasize your actors or even acheive a connotative meaning, to using music or even silence to get points across.

I'm not saying movies are necessarily bad, and I'm not saying a movie can't be groundbreaking, I'm just saying Eli Roth blows. Wink

Well if you want a dramatic FILM, then watch No Country For Old Men. For entertainment, see Sam Raimi and Eli Roth MOVIES

No Country was awesome, and a good example of what I mean. It's so beautifully crafted and enjoyable... as for Raimi, his style was so original when he was starting out... It's fun and very innovative. I'm just not a fan of Eli Roth's movies, I'm sure he'll make something I like later on and then I'll probably start to come back to the early movies and enjoy them more... but for right now I just see him as a director who's too hyped up To each his own, right?

I just hate zombie movies were zombies run, jump, or anything that zombies couldn't do. I mean come on only voodoo zombies do all that.

Cause we all know zombies are real... So since zombies in real life can't run, they can't in movies?

Well, I went down to the local museum to try to understand the history of the zombies. The tour guide told me that zombies have been known to run in history. So, I don't see why it's wrong to have them run in a movie... I mean, zombies that are slow are easy to defeat... Wouldn't you be afraid of one who can move fast?

CONTROVERSY ABOUNDS!! The following statement is true and no facts have been changed to protect the guilty...

Ahem... The first film to feature a running Zombie IS... Night Of The Living Dead.

Bill Hinzman's zombie chases Barbera and when she is in the car you see him running (well fast shambling) toward the car. All the Zombies after him walked.

So George Romero is to blame!

And a running Zombie is a bloody frightening sight. Which is scarier the speedy shark with yellow barrells attached in Jaws or the one slowly moving toward camera in Jaws 3D?

The defense rests.

Ok, so you are comparing it based on effects??
