I used to get real jazzed up about the awards but last year was so dull for film and I found myself, for the first time ever, relishing the dumb brainless action and horror romps. It took me back to being younger when Dances With Wolves was the first film I genuinely cared for winning an award. Before that the Oscars was a stuffy suit show for films that flat-out did not interest me whilst various assorted famous people ego-stroked their peers. Then in my adult life I began getting aquainted with previous oscar winners and began to show care for the nominees. After watching performances that I thought broke the benchmark (Greg Kinnear in As Good As It Gets) fail to win I started to see the political side of the show.

Abigail Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine - THE best performance of the year. At least she was nominated.

-Where was a nod for Napoleon Dynamite as best film?

-Jim Carrey for the Truman Show - ingnored.

-Ben Affleck for his portrayal of George Reeves in Hollywoodland.

Jon Stewart hosting is the only reason I watched last year.

Best Film
No Country for Old Men

Best Director
Coen Bros (last year Scorsese got his, now it's the brothers' turn)

Best Actor
Daniel Day-Lewis

Best Supporting Actor
Javier Bardem

Best Actress
Julie Christie

Best Supporting Actress
Tilda Swinton

Best Adapted screenplay
"No Country for Old Men"

Best Original screenplay
"Juno"

Best Art Direction
Sweeney Todd (the academy always go with the more lavish production)

Best cinematography
There Will Be Blood (When that boy was laying on the roof near the oil rig, you could just tell something was going to happen)

Best film editing
No Country (it usually matches film editing)

Best Original score
Atonement

Best Original Song
"Falling Slowly" from Once

Best documentary feature
"No End in Sight"

Best documentary short subject
Freeheld

Best foreign language film
The Counterfeiters

Best animated film
"Ratatouille"

Best animated short film

I met the walrus

Best live action short film
Tanghi Argentini

Best costume design
"Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

Best Make-Up
La Vie En Rose  (making a 32 year old 19 and then up to 47 was a task.)

Best visual effects
"Transformers" (although I hated the movie... it was visually up to par... Pirates might take it even though)

Best sound mixing
Transformers (this is just to give 20-time nominee Kevin O'Connell his first win)

Best sound editing
It usually goes to whoever wins Sound Mixing... so Transformer

Juno won't win! It's too quirky, cute and amazing! My favourite film of the year. My love is a jinx.

My predictions are based on my own choices and from a bunch of Oscar predictions I read... Juno's pretty high up there in odds for Best Original Screenplay.

As cute and catchy as that song is I think out of all the Enchanted songs that got nominated for the oscars it's probaly going to go to "That's how you know" seriously, that song gets stuck in your head for days on end. I'm just sad that "True Love's Kiss" didn't get a nomination. <- Big Disney/Enchanted/Alan Menken geek.

I am just to the point that as long as Enchanted gets a win, I'll be happy.

I am a bit shocked at some of the winners.. I think the only reason Page didn't win was because of her age.
