I suppose you could say The Blair Witch Project is also a rip-off of The Last Broadcast... which you could say is a rip-off of cannibal holocaust... which was influenced by mondo documentaries.

The generals will never be original, but it's how you follow through with the specifics that can make it original. How many times have we seen a buddy cop movie? How many times has it been rehashed "Good Cop, Bad Cop", "Interracial Duo", "Clean cut, loose cannon", "cop, dog..", "Good Cop, Bon Cop Tongue" , "Cop, Informant", "Cop, Criminal", etc, etc...

But how about Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang... it was awesome, hillarious, fresh, blah, blah, blah... it took a completely unoriginal concept and made something unique. Staying away from cliches or poking fun at cliches can sometimes be a solution.

Man nobody on here wants music made? Poops, I was looking forward to it Tongue

Actually, I'm re-editing my short film The Call and I need new music because a few of the tracks I used were not royalty free and someone is asking me to submit this to his Short Film Showcase up in Canada. If you're interested in this let me know, it'll be a great help!
