(Windows, Mac, linux) Celtx it a great tool for planning your next film. Every script has to be written in a proper format, and this software helps you do all that, and more!

(windows) Wax doesn't have great editing tools, but it compositing, 3d, and rotoscoping tools, are something you can't beat for the price. While it's actual chroma key tool isn't very good, it is great for compositing fx like flames, muzzle flares, and explosions. It also has a great tool called "Rotomate" which is a very basic rotoscoping tool, but with the option of "use shapes as mask", it becomes a great compositing tool. I think of wax as a poor man's after effects.
