Hey NAH!  Cool

I'm still not talking to you for finding that Ton of Red Meat card before me ya git!  Grin .... I sent you a pm a few days ago but messed it up .. I'll try again later today.

I'm a little bit closer to getting hold of the missing Evil Dead 2 teaser that Jonathon Ross made with Raimi for Channel 4, but there's a lot of ifs involved. It's been in my old school friends loft for over 15 years (if it went in the same box as his other video tapes, if the loft dampness hasn't ruined the video tape, if his Dad hasn't cleared the loft out). I saw him yesterday an he's agreed to have a lok for me. I hope to stick it in the mail to you as I don't have the equipment to get it from video tape to online viewable format. This was only broadcast once 21 years ago and I've never found it on the internet. I'll be in touch.

Yeah sorry about that swofty I was amazed to find the card so cheap on ebay  Grin

That would be brilliant if you could send the tape (once found that is), it shouldnt be a problem form me to get it online somewhere.

Surely there must be the full show backed up somewhere, I will email Wossy at his Radio 2 address and ask him if he has a copy of it!

Swofty, Sorry if this is a stupid question but i take it the programme your talking about isn't the incredibly strange film show i take it, what was the programme? also is the teaser you're talking about the one with raimi & ross sitting in a cinema being attacked by demon hands coming out of their chairs?

Yep, I am talking about that exact same advert break teaser during the original broadcast of The Incredibly Strange Film Show, I'm just glad that I've finally found someone else on this site that has seen it and knows what I'm talking about! .. it's never been included on any DVD extras and no one on the internet has known what I was talking about so far mate .. Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't seen it since the 80's but, from memory, it goes like this:

Both are sitting side by side in an empty cinema .. Raimi says something like "Well, are you ready Jonathon?" .. cut to a fast cut montage of Ed2 shots ending in the vine dragging to the tree scene on the screen in front of them .. cut back to a medium close up of JR with a sneering look on his face saying to Raimi (and in a wilting tone of voice) "I don't believe it" .. then deadite hands burst through JR's seat and grab a shocked looking JR. Cut to black and then the ED2 logo.

Please tell me you actually still have it otherwise I was going to do the same as NAH and appeal to JR's production company for a copy ...

And while I'm at it, there's the matter of the equally lost alternative Palace Pictures ED2 poster. The well known one (the same one on the wall of Tim/ Simon Pegg's flat in Spaced) is, well, .. well known. I picked up 2 of the rare alternatives for 20p each from my local video shop when ED2 was released, gave one to a friend and cut the other one up which is still in the wardrobe, incomplete, in my old bedroom at my parents house. I've never seen this rarer one on ebay or any Evil Dead fan site, including this one. It was nearly 2 feet wide and about 4 feet tall, had Ash in his chainsaw aloft in front of the castle publicity pic, and had a black border with small white squares down both sides to create the look of a movie film reel. The newspaper film critics quotes on the poster were; "Rambo, Mad Max and Dirty Harry all rolled into one" and "Enough blood, guts and carnage to fill an abatoir" ... do you remember that puppy?

btw, your chainsaw props are stunning ...

Yes thats the same one, although I have seen it recently on the ED UK 4 disc boxset. On the 4th disc
under extras on the 'Dead Good Marketing' featurette, near the end. There is 2 versions, a shorter &
longer one and both seem to be shown in full. This is a transcript of the longer version:

We open on SAM RAIMI sitting in a cinema eating popcorn with the soundtrack from
Evil Dead 2 playing in the background

SAM
Hi I'm Sam Raimi, the director of the evil
dead. I've invited Johnathan Ross to see
my new movie evil dead 2.

The camera pans to JOHNATHAN who jumps spilling his popcorn everywhere. Cut to the
cinema screen showing scenes from Evil Dead 2.

JOHNATHAN
Oh, I don't believe this.

SAM
Say, you er, you think this will scare the
audience as much as the first one?

JOHNATHAN
Thats a safe bet Sam er, got alot more
suprises...

Cut to multiple shots of demon hands popping out of JOHNATHAN'S seat, with a cloud
of smoke rising behind him. They grab him and pull him back

JOHNATHAN
Ahhh!

SAM
It's got alot in it to er, grab the
audience

V/O
Theres only one movie scarier than
evil dead, evil dead 2. Kiss your nerves
goodbye!

Is that the one you mean? I vaguely remember that poster but I might have seein to on a website or
on some DVD gallery extras. I was only 7 when ED2 came out so I wouldn't remember it originally.

the 'Incredibly Strange Film Show' is also on the Evil Dead UK 4 disc box set DVD, although it has
been edited to omit all footage from Raimi's shorts & a 'Crimewave/XYZ Murders' clip too. Guess
they couldn't clear the rights for the crimewave stuff (them also slagging the film off in the show
wouldn't help none with permission, I'm guessing) but it's strange that the Raimi shorts wheren't
cleared for inclusion, especially coincidental since WTW, another short, was pulled from the same
DVD release. I read somewhere that the music rights issue had been solved and there was a
different issue preventing inclusion involving Raimi getting funny about releasing his early works
which might explain both the missing WTW & the shorts in the 'Incredibly Strange Film Show' on
that DVD. If you get the VHS to DVD copy thats going round on the 'Raimi shorts' DVD, thats the
unedited version.

Thanks for the chainsaw compliment!

Gah! ... and I owned but sold the UK ED 4 disk boxset aswell! .... I only bought it so I could re-watch the ISFS. I should have looked closer at the extra features. Thanks for the transcript. Hopefully someone will stick it on youtube one day.
