I know the film came out when I was 13 in 2003. I saw it in theaters and came out thinking that this was a cool movie. I wanted to read the book. When I did a few day later, I was hooked with the book and film. I thought they were both great and it turned out to be my favorite adaption and book of his because this was the movie that got me into Stephen King.(Granted the ending was totally changed from the book, but I digress.) I know that this film has got an awful lot of bad reviews, I enjoyed it for what it was. What I liked the most was the four friends especially Beaver (played by Jason Lee) and the aliens. I wanted to know if anybody felt the same way or similar to what I felt about this movie.
Also looking at the special features on the DVD, Stephen King has reported that he thought it was a good adaption and he liked it. It looks like I'm not the only one
