Does anybody know the time line of ED 2? I'm trying to figure out if Ash survived ED 1 and makes it out ok. Is the
Linda in ED 2 a different girlfriend or the same one from ED 1 (I know she's a different Actress)? Does Ash remember what happened in the first movie? wasn't the Necronomican burned? is ED 2 supposed to stand alone from the first one, or is it a continuation?

i Dont't get it please help me.

Evil Dead 2 is a rehash of the first movie...unless you'r going by comicverse cannon where as Evil Dead was a lead up to Evil dead 2 by making out it was all some sort of weird dream Ash was having u pon his way to the cabin.

ED2 is a sequel.  The first part of the film is a simplified recap of the events from ED1.  The sequel begins once the Evil Force grabs Ash and hurls him through the woods.

Also, please stop spamming the board as post counts are meaningless here.  Unless of course you're looking to be banned, in which case keep up the good work.  Roll Eyes

Did the Necronomicon even show up in ED2? I recall when Knowby and friends find the book and the dagger thingy, but I think the rest of the movie all we saw was the pages that Annie and Ed had those pages of the book and then they went back in time and that was before they burned it. I really, really need to watch my Evil Dead(s) again, I watched them on DVD in months and I just bought the ED2 UMD and that's still in the package...

It never, ever fails to amaze me how this still confuses people.  Partly because the idea of a canon or continuity being maintained in this series is ridiculous.  Just go with the ride!

Ok I'll explain this one last time!  Grin

Evil Dead 2 Is Not a Remake its a sequel (the 2 should give this away), they couldnt get the rights to use footage for the intro to the movie so they reshot the beginning with just Ash and Linda going to the cabin, the movie actually starts with the evil force catapulting Ash through the trees (which was the ending to the first movie, where it hits him and cuts off).

Also the Book of the Dead does not appear after Ash has been hit by the Evil Force as he burned the Book at the end of the Evil Dead before the scene I just mentioned.

I always found that funny as well, that people still to this day are confused by it. If you look at the reviews of some people, they always consider it 1/2 remake & 1/2 sequel. I hate when they say that because it isn't true. I have to tell people that, Evil Dead II is in fact a sequel and it should start off when the force throws Ash into the woods, all the time when I show the movies to them. Don't worry EJT501, your not the only one who was confused. I think there are still some people out there who are still confused about it.

This confused me for a long time, but now I get it.

What happened was, with the second Evil Dead, the rights weren't
granted to use footage from the first movie. They tried to do that
"Last time, on Evil Dead..." recap, but couldn't use footage from the
first movie. So, they made new footage instead. Although inconsistent,
it makes sense when you think about it.

Also, yes - it is a different Linda. In all three of the movies, actually.
