I have been really dissapointed with the recent comics, none of the other characters even resemble the looks they had in the movie and there clothes are modern.

It's not supposed to be exactly faithful to the film; it's a reinvention, similar to a remake.  Why would you want to read a comic that's exactly like the film?  What would be the point?

Well its been advetised as a comic version of the first Evil Dead, they could have atelast got the charcters to look like they did in the movie, maybe they only had rights for Bruce?

I think the model for Linda is hot. But the modernization sucks - the artwork is really nice but having a late 70's looking guy with big hair stood next to folks from a teen slasher looks wrong. Plus the angle of how Ash "just wants to get laid" is the thing I hate about all modern horror films and and what I loved about ED1. Ashly wasn't trying to get laid, he was spending time with the girl he loves. Apparently we get to see what happened to Scotty after he ran out on Ash next issue, which could be cool.

Anyone read the new issue yet?

I didn't think the whole Scotty goes into the woods stuff was to great.

I actually got an email published in the back.  In the email, which I wrote the day the first issue
came out, I, of course, thanked him and told him how much I was looking forward to the rest of the series. I also asked about some of the discrepancies in the comic.  I brought it to attention that Cheryl is Ash's sister and that the proffesors name is Knowby.  I asked
what kind of reaserch were writers and artists required to do for a project such as this and if they usually tried to use professionals
that are actually fans of what they're doing.

I can't remeber exactly who I got a response from.  I think it was an editor, not one of the writers or the artist.  He said thanks
and that it was the first email he's recieved about the book.  When he brought up the discrepancies he acted like I was nuts.
"I don't remember Cheryl being Ash's sister.  I don't know about all that".  He said he was going to look into it but I never expected or recieved another response.  He never once said it was supposed
to differ from the first one.  He just said that we'd see some new stuff that was omitted from the first film.

What pissed me off is that they left that part of my email out of the published book.

As far as I know, it is supposed to be a "remake".  I think the characters looking different was simply up to the artist.  It could,
of course, be something to do with likeness rights but I find it hard to believe that all the other cast members would have a problem
with them using their likenesses.

Overall, I think the books ok but it's crazy that the creators didn't pay enough attention or do enough reserch to get stuff right.
IMO these were not "changes" to "modernize" the material.

Just my opinion, though.

What's everyone else think?

sam gave permission to take some libertys with the comic, and as long as they go to campbell to
get some good one liners were good.

(it will be intersting to see them make ash act backwards in a comic)
