I wrote this thread a while back on a different forum, but decided to put on here to get your guy's opinion on this company.
I was walking around blockbuster a few months back and came across a series of movies that were so bad they make Uwe Boll look like Scorsese... The production company is called The Asylum. Basically the backstory is hollywood releases a big budgeted movie (ex. I am Legend) and Asylum releases a no-budget rip-off straight-to-video crapfest... obviously people who are pumped for the hollywood movie are going to say "oh... maybe this will be good" and in doing so they fuel this production companies ability to continue making crap.
Here's a selected filmography of theirs... compared to some Hollywood flicks.
Hollywood / Asylum
- I am Legend / I am Omega
- Alien Vs. Predator / Alien Vs. Hunter
- Invasion (bodysnatchers remake) / Invasion of the Pod People
- Cloverfield (JJ Abrams flick) / Monster (handicam style monster movie.. why does this sound so familiar?)
- Transformers / Transmorphers
- The Hitcher (remake) / The hitchhiker
- The Omen (remake) / 666: The Child
- The Da Vinci Code / The Da Vinci Treasure
- The hills have eyes / The Hillside Cannibals
- When a stranger calls / When a killer calls (sadly the asylum version was better than the original)
- King Kong / King of the lost world
- Pirates of the Carribean / Pirates of Treasure Island (Lance Henriksen is in this... and all i can say is... "paycheque" and "He was supposed to be The Terminator)
Last but not least!
"Snakes on a Train" ... do I really need to explain?

I used to work at Blockbuster and used to rent these since I got free rentals. While they are terrible movies, they are usually hilarious.
The 10,000 BC / 100 Million BC one is just funny. I mean lets make the number larger to make it sound cooler!!
