This was a project to design CD covers & disc artwork for three pre-existing bootleg scores; 'The Thing - Expanded Motion Picture Soundtrack', 'The Thing - Complete Motion Picture Score', plus as a bonus extra disc, 'Assault On Precinct 13 - Complete 27 Track Bootleg Score'.

Complete 27 Track Bootleg Score
'The Thing: Expanded Original Motion Picture Soundtrack', while a bootleg release, it was falsely labeled and circulated as a promotional release. In fact, to this day you can still find this version listed and tagged as 'Promo' on several different websites. It contains 19 tracks, which is nine more than what the official original soundtrack contains, with a running time of roughly 75m 45s. there are still a few mysteries surrounding this release. It is unclear what the source is for the extra music contained on this release. There is also a second slightly different release called 'The Thing: Complete Motion Picture Score', containing 17 tracks and has some sound effects so was probably taken from an isolated track on a laserdisc or DVD, and also includes a track containing audio from a trailer.
The 'Assault On Precinct 13 - Complete 27 Track Bootleg Score' contains every single cue in the film, Down to the ice cream truck music. The music has been taken from an isolated track on a laserdisc or DVD and some cues fade in and out, likely due to lowering the music over dialog This version is around 32m 41s, over the official version running at 24m 36s.

This CD set was designed to be a three-disc release, in a completely clear double CD case, so both the front and back covers have title spines, with production artwork on the inside.

I used GIMP 2.6.7 to design the CD cover and disc artwork, which heavily drew from two posters;
The Thing's movie's British quad poster, and the Japanese 1-sheet poster, and uses various production artwork from both movies. I obtained a 300dpi scan of an original posters from which to work, which was scaled up to 600dpi to make life easier. The raw scans were in poor condition and needed a fair amount of digital restoration, even before I could remove all the text & logos to leave an artwork-only image for the CD back cover. All the Japanese text is accurate as per the original poster translations.

Distribution of this project was extremely limited, due both to the diverse nature of the subject film, and the various widely available retail soundtrack, and was never publicly uploaded online or shared with the wider internet, although obviously the source scores for this soundtrack were already available online. My version was distributed on the basis that any recipient should already own at least one or both of the CD retail release equivalents.
