'Annihilation' / 'The Blackstone Inquiry' Trailers

This project was to create a trailer for a Zombie film. It was always conceived to be a stand-alone trailer, never making the full film. This allowed me to film all the most exciting parts & little sequences of interesting shots, without the need to write long dialogue or less-interesting connecting scenes.
It's currently unfinished. What is there, is made up of some recycled & tweaked shots from The Lateness Of The Hour, along with some new footage. It's still missing the middle section. There are a number of the more complicated storyboarded shots which have never been realised, which would require a further day or two of filming with around 8-10 actors, and while not impossible, it's not something I ever really got the drive to complete.

The format of the trailer has gone through a number of re-designs. It began as what you can watch above, heavy music, no dialogue, and quick cuts. It later morphed to have something more of a conspiracy 70's themed trailer titled The Blackstone Inquiry, with the narration lifted from the 1974 conspiracy thriller The Parallax View. This was slightly altered, then re-voiced by Mike Brown, an actor who has assisted with a few productions in the past.

The beauty of this concept, is that single shots and little sequences can be filmed with different actors, in different locations, years apart, but can all be edited together seamlessly in a trailer format. Something which would be far harder in a full coherent short film. Below you can see a gallery of photos taken over a few years, covering various setups and props made for this production, although a number have never been shot.

While this project was never completed, there is no reason it can't be finished or greatly changed at some point in the future, especially given the very unconfined trailer format.
