Along with Within The Woods (the score of which is detailed on the Within The Woods Score page), many of the other Super-8 Shorts were scored using music taken from other motion pictures around at the time. It's Murder for instance uses a number of Hitchcock movie scores including Psycho & North By Northwest. This page aims to identify some of the tracks used. This is by no means a painstakingly comprehensive list, it is just the 'low hanging fruit'. You can listen to the tracks below, and see more details on the tracks used further down.

Interested in buying the Super-8 Short films that started it all? They're available for the first time officially on DVD, only at Super8Shorts.com. Follow the Super8Shorts.com Facebook Page to keep up with updates.

Super-8 Shorts Fanmade Score

This was a personal project, and is currently the only way fans can hear the tracks collected together in one place. It has been assembled from a combination of sources including retail CDs, Records, and MP3s. Putting all the tracks up for download would raise copyright issues, but you can listen to them as a stream-only version through the media player below.

Please note; We don't wish to tread on anyone's toes, simply to allow fans to listen to a collection of material they can't officially buy. If there are still any copyright holders out there would rather their audio was not included here, please send over an email, and it'll be immediately removed.

Soundtrack Identity Project

This list covers most of the notable tracks which could be easily identified either by just listening to them, or using Shazam; an excellent Android music identification app. This may be taken further in the future as this list is far from complete, but most of the tracks people will find memorable from the shorts, are here.

Should you wish to track this list of titles down, it's worth noting that a number of these cues such the one taken from Lipstick, have never been released on CD and were only ever available on LP records. Others may be available on CD, but still be quite expensive to buy.

One other point of note; while the 2012 Synapse Films Blu-ray & DVD Combo release of Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except does feature the Super-8 prototype; Stryker's War, it has been re-scored with original music to remove any copyright issues. The version Josh Becker used to sell through his website has it's original untampered musical score. There were five shorts discs available; disc one had Stryker's War, disc two had The Blind Waiter & Oedipus Rex, disc three had Holding It, disc four had Acting And Reacting & The Final Round, and disc five had Cleveland Smith Bounty Hunter, The Case of the Topanga Pearl, Super Student, and Public Enemy Revisited.

To buy everything cost $60 plus postage, although it was well worth the price with all the profits going directly to the shorts' creator, as well as the fantastic quality of the telecine transfers. Josh would also autograph the discs free of charge if you asked him. Unfortunately in 2016, Josh decided to discontinue selling DVDs though his website, and they remained unavailable to until they were re-released in June 2018 by Super8Shorts.com.
